So many people wanting more comments and more engagement and people to make fanart/podfic of their work and the simple response is...do you have a Transformative Works statement? It starts there. It takes a few minutes and, as you said, it may be the few minutes that years down the line makes you a connection that is hugely valuable for some reason or another. There are a million and a half fanfics out there...a transformative works statement is a sure boost towards getting me to notice yours if that's what you need/want.
