I just recced this series to someone else. I rec it to EVERYONE who's at all interested in the MCU, because it was recced to me despite Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes not being my fave characters.
The series is Infinite Protection and Coffee Detail, by Owlet. The premise is that at the end of Winter Soldier, Bucky's mission resets from Kill Steve to Protect Steve. It's stunningly written, funny and snarky and heartbreaking and just the best. Which is what you requested.
